Ummu Sulaim lived in Yathrib with her son Anas who was seven years of age at that period. She devoted her time in worshipping Allah and in spreading the teachings of Islam. For she was still young and famous for her natural beauty, wisdom and manner, a number of youth of Yathrib asked for her hand in marriage.
